Unique Melody Mest Fortune Review: The Lucky Choice

Unique Melody Mest Fortune Review: The Lucky Choice

We’ve been reviewing quite a number of new premium IEM brands, but this time we’re coming back to one of the most popular names to review – Unique Melody. Founded in 2007, Unique Melody (UM) is one of the earliest premium UIEM/CIEM companies, holding a strong reputation among the audiophile in-ear industry throughout different price ranges. Ranging from ultra-flagships such as Mason FS or Mason Asahi, their product line-up goes all the way down to TWS and budget-friendly IEMs such as U-Free and UM From The Start.

Heritage of the MEST Series

However, if having to pick one UM product line-up that is the most popular by general means, that’d be the UM Mest series. Today, we’re reviewing Unique Melody Mest Fortune – a limited-edition flagship IEM which is limited to 200pcs worldwide. Mest Fortune is made as a commemoration of 2026’s Lunar New Year, and is priced at $2,699. Let’s see how Mest Fortune’s features, how it sounds, and how it compares to other popular TOTL IEMs.

Packaging & Includings

UM provides Mest Fortune in a just-as-usual packaging with their products – simplistic box but with a variety of quality, practical accessories. Other than the earpices, Mest Fortune comes with a 4.4mm UM stock cable, 3 pairs of silicone tips, 3 pairs of UM silicone tips, 3 pairs of AZLA Xelastec eartips, a leather tie, a micro-fiber cloth, a pair of earpiece mesh bag, 2 pairs of extra nozzle filters, and a warranty card. Mest Fortune is available in either Red or Purple color options.

Specially Matched & Tuned: JoyFort Stock Cable

The stock cable is made in conjunction with PW Audio, a renowned IEM upgrade cable brand from Hong Kong. Mest Fortune comes with a specially-made cable called the JoyFort Line, which is custom-tuned and color-matched with Mest Fortune. The JoyFort Line either comes in Red or Black, depending on choosing your Mest Fortune in Red or Purple color options. The cable conductors are made of 4-core 26AWG pure copper with nylon jackets. The cable has an average weight and usability, considering it is fabric-finished. The wires are very soft and pliable, causing minimal microphonics. It’s a familiar form factor and similar to other PW stock cables, overall having decent usability to use on the go.

Earpieces: Quadbrid-design, 10-drivers Per Side

Mest Fortune is a 10-driver quadbrid IEM featuring a 1DD+2EST+3BCD+4BA setup (perhaps the 1+2+3+4 number play was intentional?) The dynamic driver plays the lows, 2BAs for the lower-mid and upper-mid, the other 2BAs for the highs, 4ESTs for ultra-highs, and 3 bone conduction auxiliary drivers that enrich bass perception and spaciousness of the sound. Mest Fortune features UM’s proprietary Hybrid Bone Conduction Technology, which is the use of two different formats of BCD parts – one having a circular, large form factor and the other one designed as a dual-driver, BA-like form factor.

Bespoke & Premium Built

Reflecting two decades of IEM making experience, Mest Fortune earpieces are finished in top-notch quality. The IEMs come in either Red or Purple; the red version features red shells with silver rims, whereas the purple version features purple shells with gold rims. The rims are made of light stainless steel, with the UM logo matching the rim color. The purple version features a gorgeous, magical hue, while the red version features a vibrant red theme that resembles the Mason Asahi. The fit and wear are very comfortable and easy to use, not causing fatigue in shape or weight.

Mest Fortune features a very similar form factor to the previous Mest earphones, though the major difference lies in the exchangeable nozzle filters. Nozzle mesh is made of stainless steel, which can be screwed in/out. Unique Melody provides 2 pairs of spare mesh filters for you to swap them in when needed.
