Nostalgia Audio Eddie Prestige Review: The Affordable Guinevere

Paired with Nostalgia Audio Camelot (Review link)

The Camelot is one of the timeless flagship IEMs that is popular among the flagship IEM community for its mature, immersive sound. Technicality-wise, Camelot still holds up strongly against newer flagship earphones despite being years old since its release. However, there’s one element that makes Camelot appear to be an older IEM, which is that the tone sounds relatively watered-down compared to modern flagship IEMs. Nostalgia Audio states that the controlled sample for tuning Eddie Prestige was the Camelot to freshen up the timbre and performance to meet today’s standards. I can vouch for that statement too, as the synergy between Camelot and Eddie Prestige is superb. Not only does Eddie Prestige work significantly better in IEM pairing, but it also shows the new side of Camelot that I wasn’t aware.

The Camelot & Eddie Prestige combo provides a revamped headroom that feels much more spatial and immersive with noticeably thickened tone color and depth. It adds lushness throughout the spectrum, having different drivers to feel more cohesive. The background is quieter and darker, too. Overall, I’d say the Eddie Prestige renews the sound to now be a fusion of Camelot and Pendragon – or the more reference/balanced tuning of Pendragon. If you’re a Camelot owner, be sure to check out the Eddie Prestige, as it reminded me of the same level of sensation when I first heard the Camelot.

Paired with Canpur CP622B (Review link)

The CP622B is one of the most popular TOTL IEMs nowadays, which we’ve already covered as a full review. I like to call CP622B to have a “dark-bright” vocal character – clean and deeply transparent while remaining composed and fatigue-free. It’s already a highly polished flagship that is difficult to fault technically. Eddie Prestige doesn’t alter that character but deepens it in the right places. The most noticeable shift is in the tone – the CP622B’s vocals, which can carry a slightly cooler and more neutral body, pick up a noticeable warmth and richness through Eddie Prestige. The “dark-bright” character stays intact, though it now leans slightly warmer, fuller, and a bit more mature in tone.

The bass on CP622B is already one of its stronger traits – agile, deep, and with an incredibly even amplitude across the low range. Eddie Prestige gives the low end a fuller tonal body without altering the CP622B’s tight control and responsiveness. The micro-detail quality that Eddie Prestige brings out is also particularly well-felt here – CP622B’s trebles, which are already silky and penetrative in their quiet way, gain a bit more tonal richness that makes them feel even more complete. Overall, Eddie Prestige is a very natural pairing for CP622B as it adds just enough warmth and tonal depth to give the CP622B a more musical and organic feel without touching its core technical strengths. For those who found the stock Eletech Socrates cable to sound a tad bright for the CP622B, the Eddie Prestige would be a nice cable upgrade to consider.

Paired with Starry Audio Bolide (Review coming soon)

Bolide is the latest, limited-edition flagship IEM by Starry Audio featuring 2DD+4BA+4EST drivers. Keeping the sound signature strictly intact, Eddie Prestige deepens Bolide’s timbre and perception of depth. Bolide already has a deep-toned and full-bodied sound, and Eddie Prestige doubles down on this nature without feeling overdone – but just makes the sound extra rich and impactful. Vocals gain golden lushness without sounding unnatural or colored. Highs also gain clearer shine and splashes. Bass impacts also gain a gentle boost in clarity, unveiling the bass grains but only to an extent that doesn’t sacrifice the smoothness. Alongside, Eddie Prestige offers extra upper-end separation, better balancing out the dominant low-end musicality.

Paired with Palavox Dark Knight (Review coming soon)

Dark Knight is a flagship IEM by Palavox featuring a driver setup of 6BA+4PLD+2BCD, featuring 12 drivers per side. Incredibly spatial and airy sound is the key charm of Dark Knight, though pairing Eddie Prestige to these IEMs is like adding the final piece that you didn’t know was missing in the first place. Planar drivers have an innate tendency to deliver strong transparency, and, when tuned carefully, they can provide great resolution and treble extension. However, they’re also easy to sound bright and shouty.

The Dark Knight is one of the fine examples that nicely controlled the planars, though for the listeners who are extra sensitive to trebles may occasionally find the upper frequencies a tiny bit shouty. Eddie Prestige not only seamlessly subdues the upper-end brightness to a comfortable extent without deforming the original timbre and sound signature. Alongside, Eddie Prestige adds mellow, lush smoothness for the vocals. Meatier bass with a better sense of elastic dynamics is another change. If you’re loving the sound of Dark Knight but would like to have that extra reinforcement to perfect its sound, Eddie Prestige would be a great combo.
